Pew 2 Pavement Launches Training Program
To Move The Body Of Christ
Summary: Local Christian Wellness organization announces start of the Greater Baton Rouge area’s only faith centered walking and running training program.
(Denham Springs, LA, Sept. 28, 2013) — The most recent America’s Health Rankings report issued by the United Health Foundation shows Louisiana tied with Mississippi as the most unhealthy state in the nation.  In addition to high overweight and obesity rates, 33.8% of Louisiana residents lead sedentary lifestyles that can cause health problems including joint damage, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Thanks to a new program offering from Pew 2 Pavement, residents in the Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana area will have prayerful and professional training to help get and keep them moving.
Pew 2 Pavement (P2P) is launching their walking and running training program on Oct. 19, 2013. The eight-week program is designed to support, encourage and equip members of the body of Christ to embrace the discipline of walking and running as an act of worship and stewardship.
P2P takes a science based, faith-empowered approach to fitness with services conducted by an experienced Christian educator and Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) certified running coach.
Program participants will receive a customized training plan that starts at their current level of activity/fitness and progresses safely and effectively towards an appropriate goal. Participants will also benefit from health related devotions and educational workshops, as well as fellowship and accountability opportunities at weekly group runs.
As to what makes P2P different, a company spokesman said, “P2P is a group program, but each participant is coached as an individual.  Often, training programs categorize people into broad categories and everyone in that group does the same run or workout – that may or may not fit their ability.  In our program, we go for the perfect fit.  The participant’s physical condition, ability, time availability and goals are taken into account in the design and progression of their personalized plan.”
She further added, “More importantly, beyond a detailed definition of what to do, we delve into why it should be done. Sound physical stewardship, honoring God with our bodies and active faith – these are the foundational and motivational principles of our program.”
Registration for the inaugural P2P training program closes Oct. 12, 2013.
