What does Jesus want us to understand about the end times—and how we are to live now?
This lesson taught at New Hope Baptist Church explores part of the Olivet Discourse recorded in Matthew 24:1–8, 15–24. We explore eschatological truths Jesus taught His disciples about destruction, deception, distress, and discernment.
Points covered include:
• Why Jesus prophesied the destruction of the temple and what it meant
• How deception, disruption, and distress will rise
• The difference between signs of the end and the end itself
• What the “abomination of desolation” meant then and what it may mean now
• The importance of living alert, discerning, and prepared for what is and what is to come
The class includes reflection and discussion around the balance between current concerns and eschatological hope—and how focusing too much on either current events or future prophecy can distort our faith walk.
