Healthcare in 2025 is shifting—what does that mean for individuals, families, and faith communities?

I had the privilege of moderating the latest TempleCare Matters webinar, hosted by the NBCUSA H.O.P.E. Health Ministry. This ongoing webinar series is part of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. HOPE Health Initiative, which equips churches with critical health information to support their congregations.

Our featured speaker, Dr. Michael O. Minor, shared timely updates on Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and proposed policy changes that could impact healthcare access nationwide. This discussion provided essential insights for those working to protect and promote health within their communities.

Topics Covered in the Webinar:

  • Medicaid & Affordable Care Act (ACA) Updates – What’s changing in 2025?
  • How Budget Cuts Could Impact Healthcare Access – Who is most at risk?
  • The Rising Cost of Hospital Services – What can communities do?
  • February Health Observances & How Churches Can Get Involved:
    • Wear Red Sunday (Feb. 16) – Raising awareness for heart health
    • National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (Feb. 7)
    • NBCUSA H.O.P.E./American Kidney Fund Kidney Sunday (March 3)
  • NBCUSA H.O.P.E. Health Ambassador Training – A self-paced program equipping church leaders to support health & wellness initiatives

This was an important discussion for faith and community leaders who want to stay informed about healthcare policy shifts and take action to support their congregations.
